The Communion of the Holy Spirit

In the services of the Orthodox Church the Holy Spirit is referred to as the "life-giving" or "life-creating" Spirit. This, in part, is a reference to the creation of the Cosmos in Genesis where the Holy Spirit is described as "hovering over the face of the water." Throughout the Scriptures and in the Tradition of the Church He is shown as enlivening, inspiring, guiding and sanctifying (making holy) . This section goes into these aspects in more detail.
